Under President Kufuor's leadership, Ghana experienced its first peaceful democratic transition and made important advances in modernizing agriculture, improving infrastructure and increasing Ghana's attractiveness for foreign direct investment. Kufuor's policy initiatives focused particularly on leveraging indigenous capital by encouraging entrepreneurship, promoting good governance, and combating corruption.
Kufuor, who is also a former chairperson of the African Union (2007-2008), is a graduate of Oxford University, where he studied politics, philosophy and economics. Please join us in welcoming President Kufuor at 4 p.m. on Sept. 21, in 34-101. Seating will begin promptly at 3:30 p.m.
