This is a New York based company (founded by Media Lab people) that
is a new media startup. The big thing they are working on is RockPipe, which
allows them to send real time video over the Web. Among their projects
implementing this technology are rock.com through which they
broadcast over the Web music videos of NY area bands. They also did the first
live broadcast over the Web of a Rolling Stones concert. Other things
they work on are Web based soap operas, and a new project (although I'm not
sure it's up yet) which would allow local theater groups to broadcast their
productions over the Web and digitally put in scenery while the performers
are in front of a blue screen.
Perhaps the most important effect of this technology is that is allows global
distribution of the work of small or poorly funded independant music,
    theater, and film groups.
