Opening Scene

Good evening dear spectators and dear colleagues. WU WEI theatre greets you. Tonight we are going to perform "The Good Person of Sezuan" by Bert Brecht. The performance has already begun. Angelika is the narrator, Andreas plays the water vendor Wang. And this is a street in the capital of Sezuan.

This here is our orchestra.

Wang has heard that three gods have come to the earth as there are complaints about the state of the world. The gods have been ordered to find out why it is that the world is depraved - is it because of circumstances, because of the gods or because of human beings? If they can find one single good person, they have fulfilled their order and are allowed to return.

See now how Wang is waiting for the gods. What will they look like? Are they in disguise?
