Evolution of MITVSA

Within this page lies the history of the MITVSA...

LATE VSA

As an introduction, above is the VSA of 1993. Notice the vacant stares, the wistful looks, and the stylish wearing of underwear on the outside (yes, VSA men at that time were that tough). All other VSAs in the mid 90s are reminiscent of this style, which we will call "LATE VSA", drawing influences from such artists as Madonna and Al Yankavich (Sp?).

This rare photo shows the "LATE VSA" in their natural habitat, in front of the tube.

ANCIENT VSA

Here we have a prime example of the style "ANCIENT VSA". Yes, the MITVSA goes pretty far back in time.

As a warning, we show a fake "ANCIENT VSA" style. This was executed in the "LATE VSA" period. We know this to be true because the door to the VSA office is shown. A bad mistake. The participants of this farce have been punished and have been placed in suspended animation. So, all you new visiters, to find the VSA Office, just look for the people standing by a door wearing weird clothing.

SPORT VSA

Ah, finally, an example of that elusive period called "SPORT VSA". This tragic period ended when a misdirected spike sent a volleyball on a journey that would leave three persons with black eyes. Theorists have coined the phrase "magic ball" to describe what happened. An eyewitness claimed, "I saw it make a right turn in the air after hitting anh Vu, then it bounced off anh VA, and then, get this, the ball started chasing anh Thuan, followed him into Building 66, and clobbered him in the Athena room!" Fortunately, none of the Athena computers were harmed.

Unlike normal people, the "HIKING/CAMPING VSA" group do not hike during the summer. They hike in the fall and winter. When asked why, they invariably replied, "So we can wear our nifty jackets, why else?"

DANCE VSA

One of the more prolific periods was the "DANCE VSA" period. In this period, the chopstick dance was invented and the tango was elevated to new sensual heights.

The above is the famous "Merri-go-round" manuever of the chopstick dance (a.k.a. "The Flying Guillotine"). This dangerous dance required exceptional skills and bravery. Chopsticks were viewed with a radar gun and speeds exceeding 100 mph were recorded.

This pair gave new meaning to the tango. Spectators were warned to stay out of their path as they "might tie you up with leather and strike you with a whip". Notice one of their victims on the ground.

Of course, like all periods, the "DANCE VSA" did have its seamy sides. Case in point, a variation of the Flash Dance is shown above. Also, notice that the victim has not recover. Again, spectators are warned to stay away from the Tango Pair.
