Get Involved

There are many ways to get involved with the UA. To see what area you might be interested in, read about the structure of the UA. People who would like to become a part of the UA can either join a committee or run for an elected position.

Join a Committee or Board

Much of the UA's work is done in committees. In general, email the committee chairs at any time to find out how to join a committee. Some committees require that you file an application with the Nominations Committee (NomComm). To see a list of committees, click here.

Run for an elected position

In the spring, all 2008, 2009, and 2010 class council officers along with the UA President and Vice President will be up for election. The election commission provides a detailed description of each of the positions that will be available during the spring elections.
The UA President and Vice President run on a joint ticket (as in the US presidential elections). In addition, each class council has eight open positions: president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, publicity chair (1 or 2 people, single ticket), and social chair (1 or 2 people, single ticket).

In the fall, UA Senate seats and freshman Class Council positions will be up for election. Fall 2006 elections have already passed.
UA Senators are representatives from different living groups who work on issues pertinent to undergraduate life. Senators attend meetings, vote on legislation, keep their constituents informed, and serve on at least one UA committee. More information at the UA Senate website.
