What is WISE?

WiSE invites high school girls in grades 9-11 to participate in our pilot program this year. The program is open to any female student from the Greater Boston area. interested in science and engineering as well as any female student who desires to learn more about possibilities in science and engineering fields. WiSE is designed to inspire and empower high school girls to take a stronger interest in the multifaceted fields of science, engineering, and technology. The program aims to give students exposure to current opportunities and career paths associated with these fields. The start of the high school years is a critical juncture in a girl's education and the WiSE program seeks to prepare girls for making smart decisions about the direction of their careers and lives. Our kickoff session will include exciting tours of MIT laboratories, female speakers discussing their experience being a woman in science and engineering, and discussions with MIT student mentors about everything from what engineers do to the college admissions process.
