Los Angeles Times story, reprinted in May 25th San Jose Mercury News,
page 3B:

"Jose Saavedra... was releaed on bond this week after beiing arrested
earlier this month in El Paso and spending 16 days in El Paso County
Jail."

But the trouble ain't over...

"The Sacramento Attorney General' Office this week initiated proceedings
to bring him to trial in Sacramento. If convicted, he will face a fine up
to $5,000 and a maximum of three years in prison." 

And here we see the quality of the LA Times net reporting:

"Law enforcement officials said the case appeared to be the first
involving a threat to a public official over the Internet."

Hello? First, it's an alleged threat (which most of us read as a joke),
and second, how many people have been "investigated" for sending mail to
president@whitehouse.gov?
