Schowiak (schow@iadfw.net) posted that Asian-American comedienne Margaret Cho had her AOL account yanked for bad language. What's even weirder is AOL scheduled a Celebrity Chat with Cho immediately after. Cho made sure people knew what had happened... Question: Why aren't you doing another HBO special? Your last one was great. MargretCho: Hello, thanks for having me. It's nice to be back on online due to being kicked off for violations of TOS. Question: Ms. Cho -- Do you have an internet address or some other online presence that your fans can use to get hold of you? MargretCho: I was removed from America Online due to not reading TOS agreement. Question: What violation did you break? MargretCho: TOS. But until now, we've never known *what* that violation was. Apparently it was discussed on the Jon Stewart show. The June 12 issue of People magazine writes in the "Dear Rita" section: Comedienne Margaret Cho was TOSSED for repeatedly violating the TOS obscenity/vulgarity rule. And what mortal sin did she commit? According to Margaret (while appearing on the Jon Stewart Show), she refused to change her screen name as instructed by TOS advisor. And what was this horribly vulgar and offensive name............ ASSY!! Margaret got herself reinstated by calling AOL and telling them she was of French/Vietnamese extraction and that Assy was old family name. BTW, the word "boy" is banned in all AOL chat room names. As is "girl" and "hacker". Unconditionally. Cowboy, Gameboy...prohibited. destiny@crl.com /\ alt.aol-sucks FTP site / \ ftp://ftp.crl.com/users/de/destiny/aol/ ============================================================================== /__________\ Now featuring 400K year-end review!!!
