Community Service:
We will be holding Penny Wars leading up to the show. Donate for your class! Donations will go to Aim for SEVA.
AIM for Seva's goal is to also build chãtrãlayas or "homes" for students in South Asia. These chatralayas will serve children living in remote areas -- mountains and forests -- who do not have access to schools. By providing these "homes", attached to a nearby Government school, they are helping the tribal and the needy students. The existence of such chatralayas in rural areas not only improves the attrition rates in rural schools (which is currently more than 50 percent at the high school level), but also prevents children from being used as child labor. These chatralayas are also needed for those who have no proper facility to study because they live in slums or huts in semi-rural and urban areas. By providing such children a proper environment, they save them from potentially taking to crimes.
We will also be teaming up with the Samar foundation to put on a bone marrow drive during the show. South Asian Marrow Association of Recruiters (SAMAR) serves patients diagnosed with leukemia and other fatal blood disorders from the South Asian community (people from India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, East Africa, Guyana, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, West Indies) and other minority groups who are in search of Blood Stem Cell /Marrow donors. SAMAR's mission is to create an informed society of individuals who would make a conscious decision to be committed donors and be available to donate blood stem cell/ marrow if they match a patient. You can save a life! Culture show is sponsored by:
