About the Icon of the Theotokos
The icon here is only a small part of a larger icon. In Orthodox practice,
no icons of St. Mary the Theotokos are ever made if her alone. She is always
depicted either with an infant Christ, in the presence of an adult Christ, or
at the anunciation where she was greeted by the Archangel Gabriel (in a
depiction of Luke 1:26-38).
I've been trying to find out where the original icon was scanned in from
(it predated my compiling of the archives), but so far I have been unable to
do so.
