Shyam Raghavan, Jr.
Tucson, AZ Half Team "Brown Magic", Half Team AZ Pride--
Shyam Raghavan '07 always brings his
Southwest style to the courts of MIT. Representing his hometown Tucson,
Arizona, Shyam a.k.a. Shaq a.k.a. ShyamDaddy a.k.a. Minipoke is playing
in his second
year on the MIT Men's Tennis Team. Shyam posted superior rankings in
both
Arizona and the USTA's Southwest Section as a junior and has continued
his
dominance in college. Graduating from Catalina Foothills High School in
Tucson
in 2003, Shyam also played in the top spot of his high school team which
competed in the 4A division in Arizona.
Shyam, 5'7" and weighing 145, has posted many key wins for the Engineers
in the
last 2 years and is continually contributing in practices and matches.
Double
majoring in Course 10 (Chemical Engineering) and Course 5 (Chemistry),
Shyam's
educational path is leading him to graduate school to study Medicine.
Shyam is
also very involved on campus as a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity
and
AMSA. In his free time, Shyam is a diehard sports fan rooting for the
Arizona
Wildcats, Phoenix Suns, and the Arizona Diamondbacks. He also likes to
play
basketball, football, and lift. The only response Shyam gives to all
the
haters out there is "Are you for real holmes?"
