During the summer months, MITOC members go on whitewater kayaking trips almost weekly. Trips are announced on the 'paddle' mailing list.
Many years, there have been regular roll sessions organized at the Mystic Lakes or in the Z-center swimming pool for those who would like to learn to roll a whitewater kayak. Organizing roll sessions is a lot of work, so if you're interested, offering to help clean / transport / organize for the session can't hurt.
The club owns several plastic white water boats, among them three new Dagger boats. Miscellaneous other equipment such as paddles, helmets, and life jackets are also available together with the boats. Due to the rather hazardous and technical nature of the sport, the white water boats are restricted equipment. Obtain permission from the whitewater chair first.
In order to borrow a key to the boathouse and rent canoes or kayaks from MITOC, members must first provide one hour of service each year to the boathouse. Work sessions will be conducted at least twice a year to keep the boathouse clean and make sure that everyone is familiar with rental procedures.
Please note that, like all rentals, boathouse keys are due back 7 days from when you take them out. We have very few boathouse keys, so expect members to return keys promptly.
