Russell wrote his essay Why I am not a Christian to attack the position of the Catholic Church regarding Divinity. The Catholic Church had laid down some arguments that would give a rational proof of the existence of God. A rational proof of God would be a difficult thing to aim for, however, Russell's attack on the position of the Catholic Church itself needs some investigation. I will present each of the original arguments of the Catholic Church, Russell's critique and then my comments on Russell's critique.
