The dining experience at MIT is unique. MIT does not have mandatory meal plans and the MIT culture is that many students prepare their own meals in residence hall kitchens. Kosher students follow this practice with many of them clustering in certain dormitories to share kitchens, equipment, and cooking. Upon request, MIT Hillel helps to facilitate the assignment of kosher students to specific residence halls for this purpose.
Some kosher meals during the academic year are provided by MIT Hillel and some through the joint partnership of MIT Hillel and MIT Campus Dining. MIT's kosher dairy and meat kitchens are under the supervision of the Vaad Harabonim of Massachusetts kitchens are under the supervision of the Vaad Harabonim of
Massachusetts.
During the Week
Kosher Convenience
MIT Campus Dining operates a kosher food outlet at Baker
House Dining, open seven days a week from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm. Both pre-made meals and grocery items are available. Entrees are available in both the refrigerator and freezer cases. The refrigerated meals, which rotate weekly, include both a dairy and meat entrees with two side dishes. Your food can be warmed in the
kosher microwave ovens on-site and eaten in the dining room or carried out. The
grocery section inventory offers
everything from instant soups and chewing gum to chicken dinners and packaged
cheeses. Kosher Convenience accepts Preferred Dining, TechCash, and cash.

Kosher Ko-op
On Wednesday nights, order dinner from the local Taam China! Dinner costs $8.25 for an entree and a side dish
of your choice. The order form can be found here.
Dinner & Shiur
Hillel offers a number of shiurim, study opportunities, during the week. A dinner is served for the participants of the Monday and Thursday evening shiurim.
Weiner Wednesday
Twice a month, AEPhi runs "Weiner Wednesday" in the Hillel center! Come and get a hotdog for only $1!
A Breakfast Cooperative meets at Hillel Monday through Friday mornings at about 8:30 AM.
Shabbat and Holidays
Shabbat and Holiday Dinners
MIT's Kosher Dining provides Shabbat and holiday dinners during the academic
year at Hillel in the Religious
Activities Center, MIT Building W11. Enjoy
a full meal beginning with challah and soup to dessert. Friday evening dinner
is held at 7:00 PM. Reservations are required for Shabbat and holiday dinners
and are due by the previous Wednesday morning by contacting kosher@mit.edu.
TechCash and cash are accepted.
Shabbat Lunches
Shabbat lunch is served weekly during the academic year, coordinated by the
Shabbat Lunch @ MIT cooperative (SLAMIT). Reservations are due by Wednesday
noon with slamit@mit.edu. TechCash, checks payable to MIT Hillel, and cash
are accepted.
Holiday lunches are held on Rosh Hashana, Sukkot, and Passover, and they require
advance reservation with kosher@mit.edu
A light meal, seudah shelishit, is served every Saturday prior to the concluding
Shabbat services. Kiddush is provided following morning Shabbat services.

Dinner@Six
Once a month, Hillel hosts a kosher dinner for students with a number of MIT professors.
CheapEats
Every month, Hillel serves kosher dinner catered from one of the local
restaurants for $5.00 in conjunction with a guest speaker on a topic of Jewish interest.
Past speakers have included professors from MIT's history, literature,
political science, and biology departments, among others.
