If you would like to participate in the next Mystery Hunt, but don't have a team, please send us mail to be added to this list. You may want to include your major (if you're a student), a list of solving strengths or areas of expertise, and whether you'll be solving on campus or remotely. Teams will contact you directly if they would like you to join them.
Puneet Jain (jain.puneet at yahoo dot com – I have good analytical skills and passion for solving puzzles. I have an educational background in Mathematics and Applied Physics. Passion for solving Puzzles and strong analytical skills. I am currently working as an architect in an IT firm. I have good understanding of computer science fundamentals, good knowledge of various data crunching techniques. I used to run an informal quiz club for my company. Looking forward for some team to honor me :-)
Anna Loparev (nekochanbus at gmail dot com) – I am a student at Wellesley College. My current major is math, but I will probably minor in philosophy as well. I m not sure what solving strengths I have, but I guess math would be my area of expertise. My main mathematical interest is currently group theory. I've done a lot of practice for the Putnam math competition, so I'm used to seeing types of problems that require alternate modes of thought. I would be working on campus during the hunt and know from numerous experiences that I can stay up for long periods of time without going crazy as long as I have a couple of cups of extra-strong tea.
Ata Gurpinar (mysteryhunt2008 at gemini6ice dot com) – My puzzle-solving strengths lie in noticing details and solving logical problems. My favorite puzzle types are logic puzzles, from the basic who-ate-what-food type to numerical challenges like kakuro to spatial decision-making like battleships and Nikoli puzzles. I also enjoy crosswords, especially cryptic crosswords. I'm a decent ad-hoc coder, and have a quality mathematical background. I'm currently a part-time graduate student in Pure Mathematics at Northeastern and a full-time accountant. My trivia specialties include internet subculture and board games.
Roger Manderscheid (RRManderscheid at aol dot com) – I have wanted to do the MIT IAP Mystery Hunt for many years, and now I have the time! I am a retired 5th grade school teacher from Southern California, a magician (55+ years), a puzzle adventure game master and puzzle collector, an Eagle Scout, a poet, a cook, a Peace Corps Volunteer- Brazil (speak Portuguese & some Spanish), an All-American college Swimmer (and a Water Polo player, an Ocean Life Guard), a college cheerleader, a team player, a lateral thinker (right<-->left), a problem solver(front,<-->back),an intuitor (apex<-limbic->base), and I love to pull all-nighters. I was a math-science major in high school and have a B.S. Degree in Biology. Sign me up quick, before another team gets me!
Calvin (calvin4 at gmail dot com) – If there is a team who happens to need extra people, I'd be willing to help solve puzzles remotely. I am still in high school so my schedule might not allow me to be online all the time, but I am around a lot to help out with puzzle solving. I have some basic experience solving online puzzles (notpron, macheist, antiriddle, and a few other independent ones). I don't really have any areas of special expertise other than perhaps image editing, but I can help out as a utility person wherever one is needed. x7 J@F 564@565 E9:D[ x H@F=5 =:<6 E@ 36 @?
