Accommodations for reunion

The University Park Hotel @ MIT will serve as our host hotel. It is located at 20 Sidney Street in Cambridge, MA and within walking distance of the competition venue.  We have blocked off rooms for both the participants and alumnae.  The cost of the rooms is $109/night plus 12.45% tax. This rate is flat for up to 4 occupants per room. Please call and make your reservations early. It is easier to cancel your reservations than it will be to find lodging later. You can make reservations by calling Ginny Lepow at 617-551-0312 or emailing ginny_lepow@hilton.com. Please refer to NCGA Championships when making your reservations and mention that you are attending the NCGA Alumnae Reunion. Rooms will be held until March 21, 2004. Any unbooked rooms at that time will be released by the hotel.  If the $109 block rate is sold out, MIT has negotiated an 'MIT Athletics' rate of $119 per night plus a 12.45% tax at the host hotel. Ask for the best available rate associated with MIT Athletics. The Reunion Reception will take place at this hotel, so we would encourage you to stay here.  Plus, you will not find a better rate for a better hotel around the Boston area. Click here for a listing of additional hotels in the area. Please make reservations early as the Boston/Cambridge area hotels tend to be filled on a regular basis.

Reunion Reception

An informal reception will take place at the Hotel @ MIT immediately following the completion of the Saturday night Event Finals competition.  The main conference rooms have been reserved at the hotel from 9:00 pm to 1:00 am.  A registration fee of $10 will help provide coffee and desserts.  A cash bar will be available as well, but we want to encourage people to eat prior to the competition which begins at 6:30 pm. (March 1st change) Registration cards will NO LONGER be mailed out.  Please register by phone (508/655-5873) or e-mail to ncga-reunion@mit.edu and mailing a check c/o Catherine Rocchio - 60 Harrington Ridge Road, Sherborn, MA 01770.  The checks should be made out to MIT-DAPER. Competition and Reception tickets will be held for you at the lobby of the Z-Center, which provides the entrance to the Johnson Athletic Center, where the competition will take place.  We hope to provide a list of confirmed attendees as we begin to hear back from you and an opportunity for the founders of the NCGA to say a few words at the reception.

NOTE - You will also be able to purchase tickets on the day of the event, but we do expect Friday night's session to sell out completely.  You can also register for the reception on Friday or Saturday prior to the competition, but please at least send us an e-mail or call ahead (580/655-5873) so that we can get an estimate number for the coffee and desserts provided at the hotel.

Memorabilia table - There will be a table set up at the reception with pictures, programs and maybe even some old scoresheets.  We would love for you to bring or send anything that you may want to share.  Label anything that you want to provide so that we can return it to you at the end of the reception or send back to you at a later date.  Anything that you want to send beforehand can also be sent to Catherine Rocchio

Competition/Warm-up Rotation - Format

The competition will be run in a Capitol Cup Format with the warm-up and competition equipment located in the same arena. Two full sets of equipment will be available and all eight pieces of equipment will be in action at the same time. All equipment will be visible to spectators. Flights will warm-up and compete on the same set of equipment. The judges will rotate between sets of equipment. This means that the same four teams and individuals in Flight A will remain on the left side of the arena and Flight B will remain on the right side of the arena.  As soon as the qualifiers and flight assignments are determined, they will be posted below so that spectators can plan to sit on the side of the gym that their team is on.

With the exception of the first rotation for Flight A (see Schedule of Events), there will be no 3-minute touches between rotations. (This is due to the delay from the march-in between Flight A's timed warm-up and actual start of competition). Otherwise, teams will be competing immediately after their warm-ups and as soon as the officials arrive at their event.  There will be very little lag time between rotations, but there will be announcements and information posted on an electronic screen to help the spectators keep track of the action and identify the athletes.

FLIGHT A - on the left side of the arena - TEAM 1, TEAM 2, TEAM 3, TEAM 4

FLIGHT B - on the right side of the arena - TEAM 5, TEAM 6, TEAM 7, TEAM 8

Flowers/Gifts

Flowers, gift or care packages can be sent to the athletes staying at the host hotel.  Please include the team name and individual name and address it to:

Hotel @ MIT
20 Sidney Street
Cambridge, MA 02139
617/577-0200 Attn: Conference Service Manager
Hold for: NCGA Championships (specify team and individual)

Fundraising Opportunity/ E-Ads

We will be offering an opportunity for spectators and sponsors to advertise and show support for a team through the sale of personal ads to be projected, slide show fashion, on a screen during the competition.  Personal E-Ads will be $25 and business E-Ads will be $50. Please keep in mind that according to NCAA rules a student-athlete cannot promote a business or product. Businesses can support a specific team, but not an individual athlete. Click here for form containing the information needed to submit an E-Ad.

NCGA T-Shirts

T-Shirts will not be pre-ordered. There will be a t-shirt company on site throughout the weekend available to print several options of logos on anything from t-shirts to sweatshirts and jackets. More information on this will follow, but everyone will be able to 'shop' for the t-shirt of their choice and the screen printing will happen right there at that time.
